Impact Brought Us Together
Yurac and Max first crossed paths in Peru in November 2019.
He was in Lima for his company that paired consultants with non-profits and social ventures to complete pro bono consulting projects.
She was a sustainable leader in the country and had her own non-profit for sustainable fashion and a sustainable knitwear brand.
Yurac’s non-profit was selected to be a recipient of Max’s program. When they met for lunch at La Isolina in Barranco for the first time, it was love at first sight.
While different in their own ways, they shared a common love and passion for empowering people and creating impact opportunities.
So We Started a Coffee Shop in Peru
COVID forced the two apart for 6 months and Max eventually made his way back to Peru in September 2020.
Their relationship continued where it left off.
Only this time in Lima, it was impossible to ignore the complexities of a country trying to manage the pandemic.
As their love grew, a storefront opened up next to Yurac’s clothing store. The idea of creating a space to empower Peruvian artisans and agricultural workers immediately came to mind.
In April 2021, Felicia & Domingo was officially launched and born.
It would be a coffee shop that focused on social impact and would be a way to showcase some of the best items that the country has to offer. It would also be a platform to lift up communities that they could work with.
And Now We’re Bringing Our Specialty Coffee to the US
Yurac and Max moved to Brooklyn in November 2021 and were married on Christmas day one month later. While they managed the coffee shop in Peru from afar, they set their sights on US expansion. Coffee farmers and artisans would benefit economically through direct exposure to new a market. The two could also continue to showcase one of Peru’s best products - specialty coffee.
Grown at high altitudes in the north and east of Peru, where the highlands meet the jungle, their single origin specialty coffees have scores of 82 (Mono Choro) and 83.25 (La Campiña) respectively.
The green beans from their Peruvian farmers have gone on a journey of their own to make it your coffee cup.
Roasted in Brooklyn, Yurac and Max strive to continue to showcase the incredible flavors and notes of Peru.
Thanks for being a part of this adventure with us.
